Description

The success in achieving productivity targets and improving existing processes depends on one’s understanding and ability to assess system performance, perform accurate design and sizing calculations, and diagnose and troubleshoot faults.

Participants in this course will learn how to design, size, select, and assess the performance of various components in commonly used thermal-fluid systems such as gas piping systems (fans, compressors, and ducts), liquid piping systems (piping and pumps), and heat exchangers (shell and tube, double pipe, plate and frame, and cross-flow).

The material presented here is for individuals who have a little background on the subject; while providing valuable information for personnel having experience with thermal-fluid systems.

Course outline

  1. Selected Topics in Fluid Mechanics
  2. Selected Topics in Thermodynamics
  3. Selected Topics in Heat Transfer
  4. Gas Piping Systems
  5. Liquid Piping Systems
  6. Double Pipe Heat Exchangers
  7. Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers
  8. Plate and Frame Heat Exchangers
  9. Cross-Flow Heat Exchangers
  10. Equipment Selection, Operation, and Troubleshooting

What you’ll learn

After attending this course, trainees will be able to:

  • Apply principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics in piping and heat exchanger design and sizing.
  • Use analytical and empirical tools in the design and analysis of piping and heat exchangers
  • Evaluate technical alternatives while bearing in mind practical limitations and criteria.

Who should attend

Design and project engineers, technologists, plant and facility engineers, consultants, mechanical engineers and technologists, maintenance and operation personnel, and other technical personnel who need to upgrade/refresh their current knowledge of HVAC systems.

Group training

This course can be customized and delivered to your group of staff at your facility, saving time and money.
